Ms. O'Connor's 6th Grade

Science

&

Social Studies

Welcome

Hey there! I'm Katie O'Connor and I am excited to be teaching 6th grade science and social studies at Flagstone Elementary. In my 6 years of teaching I have taught 5th grade in Detroit and Colorado Springs. This is my 3rd year at FSE. Teaching brings me so much joy- from building connections with students, developing meaningful lessons, to making learning fun, I want school to be a safe space for all students to be their authentic selves.

In 2019 I decided I was tired of the Michigan winters and packed up my life to move to Colorado. Nothing is better than waking up to the view of the mountains. My dog, Enzo, and I love to be outside as much as possible! If we have to be inside we can found snuggled up on the couch while I read and Enzo naps.

Helpful Information

Snacks

  • Please send your student with a healthy snack to have each day. With lunch not until 1:00 it can be a long morning without an added snack to keep us focused on learning.

Homework

  • Each student has a daily reading and math facts log in their purple Mustang folder. They are expected to spend 20 minutes reading and 10 minutes on math facts 5 times a week. Please get this signed and returned each Monday. Otherwise any missing work can also be completed at home.

Communication

  • As a whole grade level we will be sending out newsletters with updates on what we are working on at school. These will come from any of the 3 of us. Please make sure to be checking your email!
